Before making the film “I Want to Be a King”, Most of Mehdi Ganji’s films were on depicting the lives of entrepreneurs and businesses. The documentary films “All My Identity Paper”, “Employment and Industry” series, “My Mother, Manizhe, Is a Miner” and “The white Path” are some of his works in this area.
Born in 1978, Ganji began his professional career in 2002 after he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in cinema majoring in cinematography. The documentary “I want to Be a King”, however, is one of the most outstanding works by Ganji that is about an individual working in tourism industry and his relationship with his family. This film has so far appeared in IDFA 2014 Festival (Amsterdam), Silver (AFI) Docs Festival (US), Sheffield Festival Selection (UK), Dokfest Festival (Munich), Flahertiana Festival (Russia) and has received many awards. Ganji is assigned to make the film “Young Entrepreneurs in IT”.
