The closing ceremony of Health Film Festival was held at Vahdat Hall on August 27th. In this ceremony, the Jury’s Special award including Golden Tablet and Diploma was awarded to the documentary film “Mother of the Earth” directed by Mahnaz Afzali.

This documentary which is being screened through Art and Experience Cinematic Group, is a look at the joint life and works of Hayedeh Shirzadi and her husband Edmund Lempges and their efforts toward complete stoppage of the dumping of city waste and turning the waste into bio compost and producing organic fertilizer to be used for organic agriculture.

The closing ceremony of Health Film Festival continued with tribute paid to Rakhshan Banietemad. First a video clip was played and then Ms. Banietemad went to the stage and said: “I’m glad that some of the films I made were appreciated and that my films have had a little effect.”

Next, Hassan Ghazizadeh, the minister of Health, Treatment and Medical Education, Mohammad Hadi Ayazi, Health Ministry’s Deputy for Social Affairs, Ebrahim Daroughehzadeh, the secretary of the 2nd Health Film Festival, Jahangir Kosari, Film producer and husband of Ms. Banietemad’s, Houshang Golmakani, film critic, Fereydoon Jeyrani, filmmaker and film critic, Manouchehr Shahsavari, House of Cinema’s managing director, came on stage to pay tribute and present a tablet of appreciation to Rakhshan Banietemad.

It should be noted that the 2nd Health Film Festival was held in Tehran August 23 – 27 and the two documentary films “Mother of the Earth” directed by Mahnaz Afzali and “MAHAK: The World She Founded” directed by Mohsen Abdolvahab and produced by Mojtaba Mirtahmasb were screened in the competition Section of the 2nd Health Film Festival.
